Annually Hourly Table
Purpose
The Annual Hourly Table represents the validated computational dataset used to generate all statistical outputs within WindRose Studio.
It is derived from the raw hourly reconstruction of the GRIB file and restricted to the complete main analysis year.
When multiple consecutive complete years are available in the GRIB file, the Annually Hourly Table includes all of them as a single continuous statistical period.
This ensures maximum robustness of wind frequency distributions and sector aggregations.
Dataset Construction
WindRose Studio reconstructs a continuous hourly timeline covering the selected analysis Period (from 00:00 on January 1 to 23:00 on December 31).
Only timestamps belonging to this complete period window are retained.
For each hour:
-
Wind speed and wind direction are deterministically reconstructed from the ERA5 components 10u and 10v.
-
If one of the essential components is missing, the corresponding hour is marked as missing.
-
No further meteorological transformations or stability adjustments are applied.
Unlike the raw hourly reconstruction, this table does not include all GRIB variables.
It contains only the variables required for wind statistical analysis.
Scope of the Table
The Annual Hourly Table:
-
Represents the validated main analysis year (Period, in case of multi-year) only.
-
Excludes any timestamps outside the annual boundaries.
-
Contains reconstructed wind speed and wind direction values.
-
Serves as the authoritative dataset for all wind statistics.
This table is not directly displayed in the graphical interface.
Relation to Other Outputs
All statistical outputs — including:
-
Wind Rose
-
Frequency Tables
-
Histogram
-
Box-Plot
are derived exclusively from this annual analysis table.
Export Options
The Annual Hourly Table can be exported from the application menu in:
-
