Select from map (after Analyze Wizard tab)

In the ERA5 Wizard workflow, this map interface is used to define the station reference point that will guide the spatial domain suggested for the Copernicus data request.

Purpose

The purpose of this view is to allow the user to:

  • Place a station reference point;

  • Visually verify its geographic location;

  • Obtain a consistent North–East–South–West bounding box to be inserted into the Copernicus ERA5 request form.

Inserting and managing the station pin

The map follows a simple macOS interaction logic:

  • “+” button
    Enables pin insertion mode at the center of the map.

  • Pin drag & drop
    Once inserted, the pin can be repositioned by dragging it to a new location.

  • “−” button
    Removes the currently placed pin.
    After deletion, a new pin can be inserted using the “+” button.

Only one station pin can exist at a time.

Domain suggestion logic

Once the station position is defined, WindRose Studio computes a recommended bounding box centered on the selected station.

This bounding box is consistent with ERA5 grid resolution and is intended to:

  • Ensure the station falls inside the requested domain;

  • Avoid unnecessary enlargement of the spatial request;

  • Maintain coherence with ERA5 grid spacing.

The suggested North, East, South and West coordinates can then be copied into the Copernicus Climate Data Store request interface.
