Settings
Purpose
The Settings window defines default analytical configurations, graphical appearance options and report metadata used throughout WindRose Studio.
Settings do not modify raw GRIB data.
All statistical outputs are generated dynamically based on the configuration active in the Analyze GRIB tab.
Tab Defaults
Purpose
The Defaults tab defines the default wind classification scheme and directional resolution applied when opening a new analysis session.
Wind Speed Classification
Available classification schemes:
-
Calm + 5 classes + open maximum
-
Calm + 6 classes + open maximum
-
Calm + 7 classes + open maximum
The calm class represents wind speeds below the defined threshold.
The highest class is open-ended.
Directional Resolution
Available sector resolutions:
-
12 sectors
-
16 sectors
-
24 sectors
-
36 sectors
Each option defines equal angular intervals over 360°.
Important Note
Defaults apply when initializing a new analysis.
All outputs are computed dynamically based on the configuration selected in the Analyze GRIB tab.
Tab Appearance
Purpose
The Appearance tab controls graphical styling of analytical outputs.
Configurable Elements
-
Histogram bar color
-
Wind speed class colors for the Wind Rose
Changes affect visual representation only.
They do not alter calculations or statistical results.
All graphical outputs update automatically when appearance settings are modified.
Tab Station
Purpose
The Station tab defines metadata used in regulatory exports and report generation.
Parameters
-
Station Code
-
Station Name
-
Country Code
-
Elevation above mean sea level
These values are used in:
-
SAMSON export files
-
PDF report headers
They do not influence wind calculations.
Tab Report
Purpose
The Report tab defines metadata included in the generated PDF report.
Configurable Fields
-
Author / Modeller
-
Organization
-
Regulatory Reference or Project Name
-
Notes
